The Worthington Area YMCA has been serving the community and surrounding area since 1944. The Y’s mission: “To put Christian principles into practice that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body.” The YMCA is a charitable organization that exists to serve the needs of the community. The Y is exercise and education, volleyball and volunteerism, preschool day camp and preventative health. The Y doesn’t just strengthen our bodies; it strengthens our community. The Y is so much more than a gym. It’s a cause dedicated to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Fortunately, where some see obstacles, we see opportunities for our members, volunteers, and staff to make a difference. A full-service facility like no other in the area. The Y offers a multi-use gymnasium for programs like basketball, volleyball, rock climbing and pickleball. Surrounding the gym is a walking or running track, a swimming pool which includes a family recreation area, lap lanes and a diving well. Additionally, there is a state-of-the-art fitness area, group exercise class offerings, child watch services and locker rooms for individuals, families or those with special needs.
The Y is located at 1501 Collegeway, located on the campus of Minnesota West Community and Technical College.
